How can you Use Adobe Photoshop CS6
Adobe Photoshop is imaging and graphic design software used by thousands of people in various roles around the world. In addition to photography, you can use Photoshop to design websites, edit videos, and create 3D artwork. Before starting Photoshop, you need to buy a plan and download Photoshop to your device. Download the software and you will find a very intuitive interface.
Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
For beginners in Photoshop, it’s important to understand the structure of the interface before getting started. When you open a program, like the other programs, the main menu is displayed at the top. You’ll see a sidebar on the left that shows the main tools. On the right are the color and layer tools.
Open a document in Photoshop
To create a new document or open a file on your computer, click “File” in the upper left menu. Select “New” to create a new blank document. Or click “Open” to browse your computer and open existing files. When you create a new document, a dialog box appears. In this window, you can name the file and select the size and resolution you want.
This is useful when a website needs a specific file size to display the picture properly. Photos are 880 pixels wide and 450 pixels high. For resolution, 72 pixels / inch works for online images. However, for better print quality, 300 pixels / inch is recommended. (Warning: Be careful as the file size will be much larger.)
Photoshop “locks” this new document, so you can’t edit that layer directly. To unlock, click the lock icon on the layer name and it will disappear. Read on to learn more about layers.
The Toolbox in the left sidebar is your best friend. The tools are organized into groups based on the task. The top section contains selection, cropping, and slicing tools. Use this to crop and crop the parts of the image you want to edit or enhance, or to select or exclude parts of the image.
The second section contains the fix and paint tools. You can use it to remove unwanted stains from your product items, draw images, erase certain parts, color them, sharpen them, or enhance them.
The third section is a drawing and input tool. Use the Pen tool to write text over an image or to draw an image by hand. Let’s look at the pen tool later.

Each time you click one of the left sidebar tools, you’ll see the tool options below the top main menu. We will look at these as we discuss each tool.
How to use layers
Speaking of layers, even the most basic Photoshop tutorials are important features to understand when learning how to use Photoshop. You just find that there is something wrong with the layer without doing what you want in Photoshop. With a basic knowledge of this feature, you can avoid road crashes and frustrations when using Photoshop.
You can think of layers like glass sheets stacked on top of each other. Using multiple layers makes it easier to edit a part of the image without having to mess with the rest of the final product. You can easily add or delete layers and “hide” layers by clicking the eyeball icon to the left of each layer name.
In most cases, Photoshop automatically creates new layers for your work. For example, using the Input tool to write to a background image or paste another image into a document creates a separate unnamed layer. In the example above, you can see the three layers at the bottom of the logo, text, and background image. When working, it’s a good idea to name the layer.
Otherwise it can be confusing. To do this, double-click on the location marked “Layer X” and type what you want. Now, if you want to move the logo, you can click and move layers on the logo without disturbing other parts of the document.
How to use the Pen tool
- The pen tool lets you draw the shape you want. There are four options.
- Standard Pen to Draw Curves and Straight Line Segments
- Curvature pen intuitively draws straight segments and curves
- Freehand pen to draw freely like you would use a pen and paper
- Magnetic pen that draws paths that snap to corners of more precisely defined corners
For now, let’s look at how to use the standard pen tool. For advanced tips, find Adobe Photoshop tutorials in the Pen tool. Select the standard pen tool by clicking on the pen icon and selecting the tool called “Pen tool”. You can also explore other pen tools by clicking the main icon from the Toolbox menu and then typing “shift + P”. With keyboard shortcuts.
Every time you click on a document, a reference point is created. Anchor points serve as points where corners or shapes become curved. For example, you can draw a star by clicking all of the locations that will be the corners of the star. Click the first anchor point you drew to close the star.
To draw a shape with curves
Click where you want to place the first anchor. But do not let go. Instead, drag the mouse to create a direction line that will form a curve. The shape of the curve depends on the length and slope of the direction line. Release the mouse click when you draw the direction line. Click where you want to end the curve segment. The curve changes angle or direction.
Let’s say you want to make a C-shaped curve. To do this: Click to create a second anchor point, then drag the mouse in the opposite direction you dragged to create the first direction line in step 1. To create an S-shaped curve instead of a C-shaped, move the mouse in the same direction as the first direction line.
Repeat this process until you have the right shape. Note: You can move the base point or change the position of the direction line at the end point. To do this, hold down the “Control” key, click on this point, and hold it down until you are finished.
If you accidentally created additional points without typing the Control key, you can type “Control + Z” to undo the last step (or you can click Edit → Undo from the top menu). Control + Z works for everything you do in Photoshop, so remember this handy shortcut.
How to use Input Tools
An input tool is a way of writing words on an image. Tap the input tool icon in the left toolbox to see options for typing horizontally or vertically. Like all other tools, click to see more options below the main menu. You can also edit using the Character panel, and there are a few more options.
Photoshop has many built-in font styles, but if you have a custom font for your brand, you can always install it yourself. Just install the OTF or TTF files in the fonts folder on your Mac or PC. After restarting your computer, the font should be available in Photoshop.
The type tool has many options, including:
- Styles, sizes, and colors, such as italics, small caps, underscores, strikethrough, superscripts, and subscripts.
- Spacing between each character and spacing between each character.
- Vertical and horizontal size of text or height or width of key.
How to use the Gradient tool
Gradients are smooth color transitions between two or more colors. Gradients make a great background for your product photo or ad. They can be a simple way to add some color and a professional look. The Gradient tool lets you choose from preset options or create your own gradients. Click the Paint Bucket icon. Press and hold until you reach the menu. Select the “Gradient Tool”.
Use the option menu that appears below the main menu bar. Click on the drop down menu to select a preset gradient. How to use the Gradient tool in Photoshop. You can also click on the bar instead of the drop down option. This will open the gradient editor. In this dialog box, you can select one of the presets and make your own changes if desired.
Double-click on the color stop that appears in the line below the “Soft” box to select a custom color for the preset gradient pattern. Select the gradient options you want and click OK. You can now draw in your document by clicking the start point, holding the mouse, and dragging the line to the point where you want to end the gradient.
For example, if you want a diagonal gradient, you can click on the top left corner of the document and drag it to the bottom right corner.
Photoshop creates a gradient that fills the layers
The top menu has 5 total gradient options.
- Linear Gradient: Straight line, example above.
Radial Gradient: Circular pattern, symmetrical outward from the starting point.
Angular Gradient: Sweep counterclockwise about the starting point.
Reflection Gradient: Mirror linear gradient on both sides of the starting point.
Diamond Gradient: Diamond pattern from the middle to the outside.
How to use the Lasso tool in Photoshop
The Lasso tool allows you to select a specific part of the image to isolate or crop the image, or edit / enhance it separately from the rest of the image. It is not the same as the rectangular or circular contour tool. This is because you can create custom shapes instead of squares or circles.
The lasso tool has three options.
Standard noose. To use it, simply hold down the mouse click and draw the shape you want to cut. It is recommended to return to the starting point to control how the selection is closed. If you do not return to the start point, a straight line is drawn between the start and end points to close the selection.
Polygonal noose. This tool allows you to draw polygons with straight lines. Instead of dragging the mouse to create the shape you want, you can click on any point where you want to end the polygon line. Magnetic noose. This tool is “smart” to increase accuracy. Snaps automatically to selected items for more accurate selections than manual selections.
Click the start point on the edge of the item and hold down the mouse to track the item. Release the mouse click to make a selection in Photoshop. To make a specific part of the selection larger or smaller, you can add it to the selection by pressing the “Control + Shift” key while drawing more or by pressing “Control + Alt” to subtract from the selection.
You can also do this by selecting the “add to selection” or “subtract from selection” option from the lasso tool menu bar that appears below the main menu bar at the top of the screen. If you accidentally deselect it, just type “Control + Z” and it will reappear. Life saver! To deselect, type “Control + D” in “Deselect”. This applies to all selections in Photoshop, not just the lasso selection.
